The ask: Design a masthead, magazine cover, contents page and main article/feature layout for a digital publication.
I was inspired by lifestyle magazines that feature beautiful photography, hand-drawn illustrations and focus on optimism and fostering creativity. I chose to create all my own content, and therefore named my magazine "Memento" as it was based on keepsakes from my own life. The masthead was created in Adobe Illustrator. The illustrations were drawn in Procreate using a textured brush. The photos were taken on my iPhone and edited in Adobe Lightroom. The magazine layout was created in Adobe InDesign, with interactive buttons that navigate from the Contents page and back.
I had so much fun with this project, since it was self-referential. It was the perfect opportunity to showcase my illustration style and to lean into my own aesthetic while discovering my love for publication design.
